Research interest and expertise
My research, varying from small-scale coastal and regional modeling to basin-scale marine climate processes, has been seen as significant advances in (1) ocean dynamics, (2) numerical modeling, (3) climate variability, and (4) atmosphere-ocean processes. My achievements are fruitful and have improved the knowledge of the ocean dynamics and variability in the western North Pacific Ocean.

Research interest and expertise
Wu-Cheng is a geoscientist with interests in ground motions induced by earthquakes, crustal deformation, fluids, and man-make sources. He is mostly using seismic waveforms, and integrating other geological and geophysical datasets for a jointly interpretation. The main objectives of his researches include seismic hazard mitigation and resources preservations.

Research interest and expertise
Marine Biogeochemistry, Chemical Oceanography, & Marine Environmental Changes. My major research interest, marine trace metal biogeochemistry, focuses on studying the cycling mechanisms of biologically active trace metals, exploring their interaction with phytoplankton, and using them as tracers and proxies to investigate material cycling in the ocean.

Research interest and expertise
My research focuses on studying the earthquake cycle deformation of the continental thrust faults and megathrust faults at subduction zones. I use GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), seismic, and geological data to investigate fault coupling, frictional properties, fault zone rheology, and slow-moving landslides.

Research interest and expertise
My research interests involve three areas. I am interested in mantle dynamics in general, and subduction zone dynamics in particular. One of our recent studies shows the dominance of the vertical entrainment in the strain field surrounding the Hindu-Kush continental subduction and the requirement of a strong radial anisotropy in the mantle. My second theme is the orogenic and subduction processes in the broad collision-subduction zone of Taiwan.

Email: crlin@earth.sinica.edu.tw
Research interest and expertise
My research interest is mainly in the development and calibration of scientific instruments. I have been working in the Institute of Earth Science, Academia Sinica for more than 30 years, from the maintenance and verification of seismic and geomagnetic instruments used on land, to the recent ocean bottom seismographs (OBS), ocean bottom absolute pressure gauges (OBAP), and ocean bottom electromagnetic (OBEM) R & D design.

Research interest and expertise
My research lies in the fields of limnology and oceanography. I am interested in studying (1) the growth controlling mechanisms of planktons (heterotrophic bacterioplankton, phytoplankton, protozoan and viruses) and their eco-linkages in freshwater (the Fei-Tsuei reservoir) and marine (the East China Sea, South China Sea and the NW Pacific) ecosystems; (2) the planktonic and ecosystem responses (ratio of primary production to community respiration) to external physical and chemical (inorganic nutrients, organic substrate) forcing induced by episodic events such as typhoons, internal waves… etc., and (3) the operation and management of decadal time-series biogeochemical observatory studies including the SEATS project in the South China Sea and the T-WEBS project in Fei-Tsuei reservoir in northern Taiwan.
