Environmental Resilience & Sustainability Research Group - training/outreach

Talent Training/Promotion -1:Translate and popularize scientific knowledge to facilitate its promotion and communication
The Taiwan Drought Study: Change, Water Resource Impacts, and Risk Perception and Communication Project was led by Dr. Huang-Hsiung Hsu, Distinguished Research Fellow of the Research Center for Environmental Changes.
Because one of the objectives of Subproject 4 (Stakeholder Risk Perception and Communication) is risk communication, one of the tasks in this project is to translate the scientific research results to facilitate their subsequent promotion.
Perform knowledge translation and produce two versions of communication materials using the same structure for different stakeholders to facilitate subsequent promotion.
A brief animation was initially attempted, and the project results were presented through visual images in a livelier popular science manner.
Talent Training / Promotion -2:Cultivate interdisciplinary talents and facilitate international scientific research collaboration for crucial sustainability issues
Health Investigation and Air Sensing for Asian Pollution (HI-ASAP)
  • The HI-ASAP project was led by Dr. Shih-Chun Lung, a research fellow of the Research Center for Environmental Changes. It involved transnational research on air pollution issues that affect the health of Asians the most.
  • This collaborative project involved 12 Asian countries, with atmospheric science and public health scholars from said countries participating in the interdisciplinary research. In addition, to ensure that the research results can be compared across countries, the project team organized a transnational collaboration project-planning conference in May 2019 and talent training courses in September 2019.
  • The training content included systematic thinking and methods, data QC/QA guidelines, an introduction to environmental monitoring equipment, community pollution, exposure assessment methods, an introduction to health monitoring equipment, recruitment of research participants, daily activity questionnaires, health exposure assessment, data upload and analysis methods, stakeholder participation, and practical operation of monitoring equipment.
